Kimathi University College of Technology invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following position:

 FARM MANAGER GRADE 13- KUCT/ADM/FM/1

Applicants must be persons with proven qualifications, ability and experience in management of a large commercial mixed farm. They should possess Bachelor degree in Farm Management, Agricultural Science, Agri-business, Horticulture or other equivalent qualifications. They should have at least ten (10) years experience, five (5) of which must be as the head of a commercial farm. Experience in farm certification, and coffee farming will be an added advantage.  

 The successful candidate will responsible for management of the University farm which has a coffee plantation (over 300 acres), dairy and horticultural sections. They will be responsible for formulating plans and implementing farm development plans. The farm will be run as an independent profit making business enterprise.

ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE DIVISION

 

1.         Finance Officer GRADE 15 - KUCT/ADM/FIN/1

The successful candidate will be responsible to University College for the day to day running of the Finance Department focusing on income and revenue, expenditure, investments, financial planning and portfolio analysis.

Competencies, experience and skills

  • Applicants must be qualified Kenyan citizens with CPA (K) or equivalent and registered members of ICPAK or any other equivalent accounting professional body;
  • Candidates must also posses a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in Accounting or Finance. Those with MBA in a relevant specialization and requisite experience will have added advantage;
  • They must have gained at least 10 years working experience, five (5) of which must have been at senior management level in an academic institution or public corporation of comparable nature.
  • Must have clear understanding of administrative, procurement, strategic planning, budgetary control and financial analysis in public organization
  • This is a senior position and to succeed one must have the ability to supervise, have excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have proven track record of leadership skills and initiatives.
  • Should have a high level of integrity and ability to work with multidisciplinary team of professionals.
  • Must have Information Technology skills and be proficient in Computerized Accounting.

 

The Key Responsibilities for the position are:-

The candidate will be responsible for interpretation of financial policies and will be expected to carry out research and training in Financial Management and in addition.

  • Maintenance of accurate, efficient, timely and effective financial reporting.
  • Preparation of financial reports for Management and Council.
  • Developing effective internal and financial controls.
  • Preparation of the budget reports.
  • Management of bank accounts and business accounts and cash flows.
  • Supervision, mentoring and development of accounts staff.

 

2.         SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR GRADE 13 - KUCT/ADM/FIN/2

Applicants must have a Masters degree in accounting and CPA (K) and at least five (5) years working experience in an academic institution or public corporation of comparable nature. Successful candidate will take charge of the Auditing function in the University College

He/she will be expected to advise the University College on policies related to internal controls, financial and accounting reporting requirements, financial administration, and other matters pertinent to auditing practices expected in a public organization.

The successful candidate will be person of high level of integrity with ability to work with multidisciplinary team of professionals, must have ICT skills Computerized Accounting and Auditing and also supervise, mentor and ensure development of staff in the department.

 

ACADEMIC DIVISION

 

1.         SENIOR LECTURER, FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY- GRADE 13 - KUCT/AC/1

Applicants must have a PhD food science and technology and related fields plus three years of teaching and/or research experience in the University/research institution at lecturer level or equivalent. In addition, the candidate must have published at least THREE papers in peer-refereed journals or at least ONE University level book in the applicant’s area of specialization and demonstrate ability to supervise post-graduate students.

Applicants who have evidence of product development and/or innovation in beverages and related areas will have added advantage.

 

2.         LECTURER, FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY GRADE 12- KUCT/AC/2

Applicants must have a PhD in food science and technology and related fields OR a Masters degree (with a BSc in Food Science and Technology or equivalent) plus three years of teaching and/or research experience in the University/research institution as an assistant lecturer or equivalent and the must have published at least TWO papers in a peer-refereed journal.

 Applicants who have evidence of product development and/or innovation in beverages and related areas will have added advantage.

 3.         ASSISTANT LECTURER, FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY GRADE 11- KUCT/AC/3

Applicants must possess MSc. Degree or equivalent in the relevant field (with a BSc in Food Science and Technology or equivalent) and must also demonstrate teaching and/or research experience in a university/research institution.

Successful candidates will be expected to pursue opportunities for research and publication and are expected to register for PhD within two years.

4.         SENIOR LECTURER, TOURISM GRADE 13: KUCT/AC/4

Applicants must have a PhD tourism and related fields plus three years of teaching and/or research experience in the University/research institution at lecturer level or equivalent. In addition, the candidate must have published at least THREE papers in peer-refereed journals or at least ONE University level book in their area of specialization and demonstrate ability to supervise post-graduate students.

 

5.         LECTURER, TOURISM GRADE 12 - KUCT/AC/5

Applicants must have a PhD in tourism and related fields OR a Masters degree plus three years of teaching and/or research experience in the University/research institution as an assistant lecturer or equivalent and must have published at least TWO papers in a peer-refereed journal.

 6.         ASSISTANT LECTURER, TOURISM GRADE 11- KUCT/AC/6

Applicants must possess MSc. Degree or equivalent in the relevant field (with a BSc in tourism management and related areas) and must also demonstrate teaching and/or research experience in a university/research institution.

Successful candidates will be expected to pursue opportunities for research and publication and are expected to register for PhD within two years.

7.         SENIOR LECTURER, CIVIL ENGINEERING- GRADE 13- KUCT/AC/7

Applicants must have a PhD in civil engineering plus three years of teaching and/or research experience in the University/research institution at lecturer level or equivalent. In addition, the candidate must have published at least THREE papers in peer-refereed journals or at least ONE University level book in their area of specialization and demonstrate ability to supervise post-graduate students.

 8.         LECTURER, CIVIL ENGINERRING - GRADE 12- KUCT/AC/8

Applicants must have a PhD in civil engineering OR a Masters degree plus three years of teaching and/or research experience in the University/research institution as an assistant lecturer or equivalent and the must have published at least TWO paper in a peer-refereed journal.

9.         ASSISTANT LECTURER, CIVIL ENGINEERING- GRADE 11- KUCT/AC/9
