1. ACADEMIC DIVISION: LECTURERS

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
Applicants should be specialized in one of the following areas: (i) Marketing; (ii) Economics; (iii) Purchasing & Supplies Management; (iv) Humanities (Communications, Sociology/Development Studies); and (vi) Actuarial Science

SCHOOL OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Applicants should be specialized in one of the following areas: (i) Software Engineering; (ii) Information Systems; (iii) Computer Science; and (iv) Information Technology

DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES
Applicants should be specialized in one of the following areas: (i) Mathematics (Applied, or Pure; Mathematics and Computer Science); (ii) Physics; (iii) Chemistry (Industrial Chemistry/Natural Products)

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

PROFESSOR   KUCT/ACA/01/04/10
Applicants must have a PhD plus at least three years of teaching at university as Associate Professor. In addition the applicant must have published six papers in refereed journals or at least three university level books in the applicant’s area of specialization since last appointment as associate professor and must have supervised postgraduate students. He/she must have demonstrated good leadership abilities and proven ability to attract research funding. In addition, he/she must be actively affiliated to an appropriate professional body. Applicants will be subjected to academic peer review.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR   KUCT/ACA/02/04/10
Applicants must have a PhD plus at least three years of teaching at university as a senior lecturer or senior research fellow. In addition, the applicant must have published five papers in refereed journals or at least two university level books in the applicant’s area of specialization since the last appointment as a senior lecturer or senior research fellow and must have supervised post graduate students. He/she must have demonstrated good leadership abilities and proven ability to attract research funding. Applicants will be subjected to academic peer review.

SENIOR LECTURER   KUCT/ACA/03/04/10
Applicants must have a PhD plus at least three years of teaching at university as a lecturer or research fellow. In addition the applicant must have published three papers in refereed journals or at least one university level book in the applicant’s area of specialization since last appointment as a lecturer or research fellow. Applicant must have demonstrated ability to supervise postgraduate student.
A successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, to initiate and implement research and extension projects.

LECTURER   KUCT/ACA/04/04/10
Applicants must have either a PhD in the relevant field or a master’s degree, in addition to a Bachelor degree, plus two years of university teaching or research experience and at least three papers in refereed journals. Successful candidate will be expected to teach, conduct research and supervise students.

ASSISTANT LECTURER    KUCT/ACA/05/04/10
Applicants must have a master’s degree, in addition to a bachelor degree, plus two years of university teaching or research experience and at least two papers in referred journals. They should also have made considerable progress in pursuit of a relevant PhD programme.
Successful candidate will be expected to teach, conduct research and supervise undergraduate students.

DEPARTMENT OF NURSING

SENIOR LECTURER   KUCT/ACA/06/04/10
Applicants should be holders of a PhD with a nursing background and at least five years teaching experience in a university and should be registered and licensed with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Holders of recognized Masters Degree who have appropriate experience and demonstrated management/leaderships abilities in nursing education may be considered.
Applicants must also be active members of recognized professional societies in Nursing and those with experience in management of nursing programmes will have added advantage.

ASSISTANT LECTURER    KUCT/ACA/07/04/10
Applicants should be holders of a Masters degree with a nursing background and at least two years teaching experience in a university and should be registered and licensed with the Nursing Council of Kenya.

2. ACADEMIC DIVISION: TECHNOLOGIST

DEPARTMENTS OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST    GRADE 10   KUCT/NAC/08/04/10
Applicants should be holders of a Bachelors or Higher Diploma (or equivalent) in engineering with specialization in production engineering with expertise in either use of Machine tools (including CNC Machines), welding technology, foundry, or metallurgy, and have at least five (5) years of relevant work experience as a technician in a University or research institution. Knowledge of computer applications including CAD will be an added advantage.
The successful candidate will be involved in planning, preparing and implementing practical/laboratory classes and research projects for both undergraduate and diploma students under guidance of academic members of staff in their respective department.
Registration by a recognized professional engineering body as an engineer will be an added advantage.

SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST GRADE 8 KUCT/NAC/09/04/10
Applicants should be holders of Bachelors degree or Higher Diploma (or equivalent) in engineering with specialization in production engineering with expertise in either use of Machine tools (including CNC Machines), welding technology, foundry, or metallurgy, and have at least three (3) years of relevant work experience as a technician in a University or research institution. DESIGN ENGINEER - MECHANICAL    GRADE 12     KUCT/NAC/10/04/10
An applicant should be a holder of a good degree in Mechanical Engineering, be a registered engineer and have at least 4 years experience in a busy production engineering workshop. They must have demonstrable design experience incorporating use of ICT design tools. A master degree will be an added advantage.
Responsibilities of successful candidates will include design, managing operations of a design office, setting up of laboratory and research equipment and facilities, and developing and managing the engineering workshops.

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING

SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST   GRADE 10    KUCT/NAC/11/04/10
Applicants should be holders of a Bachelors degree or Higher Diploma (or its equivalent) in Engineering with specialization in Telecommunications, Electronics, or Power Systems and Machines and have at least five (5) years of relevant work experience in a University or research institution. Knowledge of computer applications including CAD will be an added advantage.
The successful candidate will be involved in planning, preparing and implementing practical/laboratory classes and research projects for both undergraduate and diploma students under guidance of academic members of staff in their respective department.

TECHNOLOGIST (PHYSICS)   GRADE 6    KUCT/NAC/16/04/10
Applicants must possess diploma in physics or electronics or other relevant field from a recognized institution plus two (2) years experience in laboratory work at a higher educational institution or research centre.

SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST (CHEMISTRY)   GRADE 10   KUCT/NAC/17/04/10
Applicants must possess either a Bachelors degree in chemistry or Higher Diploma or equivalent from a recognized institution plus at least six (6) years experience in a university or research institution laboratory.
Applicants with experience in research-oriented laboratory work in a busy laboratory will have added advantage;

SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST (CHEMISTRY)   GRADE 8    KUCT/NAC/18/04/10
Applicants must possess either a Bachelors degree in Chemistry or Higher Diploma or equivalent from a recognized institution plus at least three (3) years experience in a university or research institution laboratory.
Applicants with experience in research-oriented work in a busy laboratory will have added advantage;

TECHNOLOGIST (CHEMISTRY)   GRADE 6    KUCT/NAC/19/04/10
Applicants must possess diploma in chemistry or other relevant field from a recognized institution plus two years experience in laboratory work at a higher educational institution or research centre.

DEPARTMENT OF FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST    GRADE 8   KUCT/NAC/20/04/10
Applicants must possess either a Bachelors degree in Food Science and Technology or Higher Diploma or equivalent from a recognized institution plus at least three (3) years experience in a university or research institution laboratory.
Applicants with experience in research-oriented work on food science products in a busy laboratory will have added advantage;
Applicants with a Diploma in the relevant field and have at least eight (8) years experience in a food science laboratory/factory will also be considered.

TECHNOLOGIST    GRADE 6    KUCT/NAC/21/04/10
Applicants must possess diploma in Food Science and Technology or other relevant field from a recognized institution plus two years experience in laboratory work at a higher educational institution or research centre.

3. ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE DIVISION

Senior Assistant Registrar   Grade 13    KUCT/NAC/22/04/10
Applicants must be a holder of a Masters degree plus a Bachelors degree from a recognized University in Management, planning, public administration and other related fields with at least eight (8) years relevant experience in a higher educational or research institution.
Successful candidate will be responsible for among others duties, general administration of university affairs including human resource functions, planning and establishment functions, performance management, projects management and administration of central services

Assistant REGISTRAR   GRADE 12     KUCT/NAC/23/04/10
Applicants should be holders of a Master Degree (plus a bachelor’s degree) from a recognized university in management, planning, human resources management, public administration or related disciplines, with at least five (5) years working experience gained in higher educational or research institution.
Successful candidate will be responsible for among others duties, general administration of university affairs including human resource functions, planning and establishment functions, performance management, projects management and administration of central services

ESTATES MANAGER    GRADE 13    KUCT/NAC/24/04/10
Applicants must be holders of a Master degree in Property Management or related area with a minimum of five years work experience in property management in a large organization preferably in public sector. Holders of a Bachelor degree in Land Economics, Building Economics, Engineering or Architecture with a minimum of nine years experience in property management in a large organization will also be considered.
Those who are registered with recognized professional bodies will have added advantage.
In addition, applicants must be computer literate, have excellent communication skills, be results-oriented, team builder and be a person of high integrity.
The Estates Manager will be responsible for the planning and administration of functions relating to construction and maintenance of University property and utilities and ensure that they are always fit for use. He/she will also coordinate provision of student accommodation both on and off campus.

SENIOR SECURITY OFFICER    GRADE 12     KUCT/NAC/25/04/10

Applicants must be holders of a degree in criminology or its equivalent from a recognized institution and have served in the Police Force at the rank of Chief Inspector or equivalent rank for over 5 years and was discharged honourably.
Experience in incident reporting, investigation and follow up skills will be an added advantage as well as skills in first aid and occupational safety/disaster management procedures.
Applicants must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and able to work as a team. Must also be a strong team leader and of high integrity with ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Consideration will also be to exceptional candidates with diploma/higher diploma and requisite experience.

SECURITY OFFICER   GRADE 11     KUCT/NAC/26/04/10

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR    GRADE 10    KUCT/NAC/27/04/10
Applicants must be holders of Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Technology and other related areas with at least four (4) years experience relevant work experience in a busy IT environment.
Knowledge in MS SQL, PHP/ASP and VBA programming, Linux/Unix and ability to customize reports using crystal reports and customize open source systems.
Certification in MCSE, CISCO, A+ or N+ will be a distinct advantage.
Successful candidates will be expected to carry out Administration, configuration and support of information systems in the university, provide first level technical and end user support and maintain system backup and contingency plans to ensure continuity and high availability of business systems and training end users on the various applications to maximize utilization of ICT resources.

SECRETARY       GRADE 7/8/9       KUCT/NAC/28/04/10
Applicants must have must holders of KCE/EACE/KSCE academic certificates mean Grade C (plain) or an equivalent and a diploma in secretarial studies with the following attainments

* Typewriting 50 words per minute
* Shorthand 120 words per minute
* Business English III
* Office Management III
* Secretarial duties II
* Office practice II
* Commerce II
Applicants must also have served as secretary/office administrator for at five years, in a busy senior management office of a large organization.
Holders of a relevant Bachelors degree and/or Higher National Diploma in secretarial studies or office administration will be considered. Those with diploma in legal secretarial and have worked for at least five years in a busy legal firm will also be considered.

WATER AND SANITATION TECHNICIAN    GRADE 6/7     KUCT/NAC/29/04/10
Applicants must be holders of diploma in water technology or related area from a recognized institution and at least five (5) years relevant experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out general maintenance of sewer and water lines with the university, undertake regular effluent tests to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and undertake other duties as assigned

4. RESEARCH, PRODUCTION AND EXTENSION

ASSISTANT REGISTAR    (LINKAGES AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH)     GRADE 12 KUCT/NAC/30/04/10
Applicants should posses a Masters degree in Development Studies or in related field and at least five (5) years experience in coordination of linkages activities at both international and national levels gained at either higher education or research institutions or government and international organizations.
Successful candidates will take lead in project cycle management, project proposal writing, fund-raising activities, management of partnerships of funded and team leadership to ensure the achievement of set performance in linkages/collaborations.

ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (PRODUCTION AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER)    GRADE 12     KUCT/NAC/31/04/10
Applicants should posses a Masters Degree in either of the following fields; Technology Management /Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, Economic Planning and must have a first degree in Business.
Applicants should also have at least five (5) years experience in business development gained in dynamic business setting of a large or medium enterprise. Experience in the innovation process of creating value chains from research outputs to the end user will be a distinct advantage
Successful candidates will take lead in the commercialization activities of the research outputs of the university.

Applicants must be holders of a bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Studies with at least three years or Diploma in Library & Information Studies with at least seven (7) years experience from a busy academic library

Applicants must be holders of a diploma in Housekeeping and Laundry management or diploma in institutional management or hospitality with at least three (3) years experience in a university or a large institution.

7. STUDENTS WELFARE

STUDENTS COUNSELLOR      GRADE 12      KUCT/NAC/37/04/10
Applicants should be holders of a Masters degree in Counseling or Education Psychology from a recognized university with at least five (5) years work experience in counseling students in a university or comparable institution.
Successful candidates will be responsible for counseling students and staff with social, psychological or health related problems.

SPORTS AND GAMES ASSISTANT OFFICER    GRADE 11     KUCT/NAC/38/04/10
Applicants should possess a Masters degree in Physical Education/Sport Science/Leisure and Recreation Management from a recognized University with at least five (5) years work experience.
Applicants must also to posses coaching certificates in one or more of the following sports disciplines: Athletics, Volleyball, basketball, rugby, hand-ball, foot-ball, lawn tennis and netball. The applicant should be prepared to work during odd hours, weekends and public holidays and away from the University College. Successful candidate will be expected to coach/train students and staff, organize and manage sports programmes.
