Kimathi University College of Technology is situated within Nyeri municipality, which is 160 kilometers North of Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi. Its main campus sits on an expansive 864 acre piece of land below a Breath-taking location between the snowcapped Mt. Kenya and the undulating Aberdares ranges. It enjoys a kaleidoscopic and serene ground in a cool climate conducive to scholarship and academic pursuit.
As suggested in its name, Technology based programmes form the core of its rich menu of courses. But there is no limitation. Alongside the Engineering programmes are Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Natural Resource management programmes including Tourism and Nursing.
The fast growth of the university and student population and range of programmes has been marched by the necessary and commensurate facilities to ensure quality education for her graduates. KUCT boasts of a world class ultra-modern students Resource Centre where virtually all students and lecturers academic needs are met.
Indeed at this centre students can hook onto the information superhighway recently made available by the undersea fibre optic cables. Linkage to international lecturers through video conferencing is now being put in place. For students pursuing courses in Natural Resource Management, a natural Laboratory in form of expansive Wildlife sanctuary exists in main campus grounds.

RECREATION
KUCT has elaborate opportunities and facilities for students’ recreation. This enables students to take part in a variety of sports such as the annual Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) tournament. In addition, indoor games and other amenities abound at the students’ centre .
Massive investment has been made for students’ accommodation. Multi-million shillings hostels have been erected in the area. Following these developments a student will now be able to walk typically in five minutes from hostels to key university facilities.
NYERI TOWN CAMPUS.
The university has a campus in the heart of Nyeri town . Here self-sponsored students conveniently undertake their studies in the Central Business District of the town. The campus particularly suits working people. These can now attend lectures in the evening and on weekends.
The town campus operates on a trimester basis meaning there are three
Sessions in one calendar year, hence, faster completion of the programmes being offered . Credit transfer is extended to students who have acquired diplomas recognized by the university senate.
DIRECTORATE OF RESEARCH, EXTENSION AND POSTGRADUATE STDUDIES.
The university has a directorate of Research and Extension whose mandate is to conduct research and publication, oversee innovation and technology transfer, local and international collaborations, consultancies and organizing conferences. The extension and outreach functions act as interface between researchers and training that make a university relevant to societal needs or national development. The Directorate is also mandated to oversee consultancy activities, action research and short-term non-academic training programmes to a wide range of clients. Through this department students get opportunity to get hands-on experiences on business management, innovation and technology transfer.
